CURRICULUM

Module 1: Intro to Agile Values and Principles and Comparison of Agile to Traditional

Module 1 covers the Agile Values and Principles that are outlined in the Agile Manifesto. We will also compare traditional ways of working to Agile, Iterative and Incremental development and discuss the benefits gained by adopting Agile. Finally, we provide an overview of Scrum and Kanban.

Module 2: Popular Agile Concepts and Practices

Adopt a Common Agile Language

In Module 2, we will look at popular Agile Concepts and Practices. This includes agile Team Roles, Timeboxes, User Stories, Story Points, Relative Estimation and using Burndown and Burnup Charts. We also look at more advanced concepts like Minimum Viable Product, the Definition of Done, User Stories and Reality Based Forecasting.

Module 3: Kanban

Make Your Team or Department's Work Visible

In Module 3, we take a closer look at Kanban and how you can get started with Kanban today. The key to Kanban is making work visible and identifying bottlenecks or other impediments to flow.

Module 4: Exploring the Scrum Framework

Working as a cohesive Scrum Team

In Module 4 we do a deep dive into Scrum which is by far the most popular of the agile methods. This includes the 3 Scrum Roles, 4 Scrum Events or Meetings and the 3 Scrum Artifacts.

Module 5: The Product Backlog

This Key Artifact contains the Team's priorities

The Product Backlog is a key artifact for all Agile Teams. The Product Backlog is a single place that contains all the business needs or requests required for a solution. The Product Owner is responsible for prioritizing and Managing the Product Backlog, and Agile Teams rely on it as the single source of work.

Module 6: User Stories

De-mystify this popular agile technique

User stories are a popular technique used by most agile teams. User stories are small statements of functionality expressed in the needs of the business. They represent a placeholder for a future conversation between the requester and the team building the solution. In Module 5 we also cover relative estimation techniques.

Module 7: Planning Your Agile Initiatives

Learn to plan your Release, Sprint and Day

Module 7 builds on the previous modules to support planning. Planning in Agile focuses on three levels of planning that are done throughout agile initiatives - Release Planning, Iteration Planning and Daily Planning. Release planning is the rough equivalent of traditional project planning. Iteration or Sprint Planning is a short-term plan created at the start of each sprint.

Module 8: Tools and Templates

Get a head start with these tools

In Module 8, our last module, we provide a number of different tools templates to help you get off to a fast start with agile ways of working. This includes online tools for agile, planning poker and retrospectives. It also includes some templates for prioritization and creating burndown charts.
